Former Chief Justice Sonny Hornsby drops by The Wininger Law Firm to view Yankee memorabilia

Our 50-year friend Ernest C.(Sonny) Hornsby visited the office this week. Born and raised in Tallassee, AL, he and our senior member have been in court and in trial together on the same side of course. Gaining his undergraduate degree from Auburn, he attended law school at the University of Alabama. While he was at Auburn, they won their first national championship in football and while he was at Alabama, a new coach named Paul W. Bryant was hired. Alabama won the national championship in 1961.

Our friend has had an illustrious career, serving as the President of the Alabama Trial Lawyers and the Alabama State Bar, later being elected Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama.

A few years ago, Sonny and his wife, Judy, moved to the Birmingham area in order to be near their children, grandchildren, and family members who needed care.

This law firm considers Judge Hornsby to be a dear friend and one of the great lawyers of Alabama in the Twentieth Century.
